Cost of living

Rent

One portion of a 1 kanaal home (3-5 bedrooms)

£400

I've put together a detailed monthly budget that shows what it costs for a family of five to live comfortably and reasonably well here in Pakistan.

School fees per child

Generally most top schools have a similar price.

£80
Bills

Internet, phone package, gas, electric, utility charges, water etc.

£300
Food shop
£300

Generally, locally sourced produce is the most budget-friendly option. However, you should expect to pay significantly more for organic and free-range items, as well as imported products from countries like the UK, UAE, Malaysia, and Turkey.

Fuel

Fuel is a lot cheaper, using the AC will dramatically increase this ammount.

£90
£100
Home staff

For any domestic staff you hire—whether it's a maid, chef, gardener, driver, or others—there will be a minimum expected salary that you must budget for each month.

Night security

Generally, you and your neighbors will collectively contribute to and pay the same guard, who is responsible for watching over all of your homes at night.

£30

On average for a family, there will be many months where you won't need to seek medical attention or purchase medicine. However, when you do, those costs can really add up over the course of a year. Therefore, budgeting for medical expenses on a monthly basis is the best way to handle it.

Medical bills
£30
Eating out
£100

Pakistan is famous for its incredible food and offers a fantastic eating-out experience, complemented by highly efficient food delivery services. While the food itself is generally quite cheap, be aware that those small costs can quickly add up!

Miscellaneous
£70

Gym membership, leisure activities, swimming, horse riding, martial arts, clothes, car repairs and maintance etc.

Total
£1,500
